bus stop.

Quick post due to my hastiness to head to the library. It was such a nice day outside, however it was a tad windy (therefore chilly).
I wore jean shorts, leggings, a white tank, a black and grey checkered scarf and a leather jacket. lest we forget the aviators. Enjoy the photoshoot.
Ps. I applied to be a member of LookBook. WOOOOOO.
wish me luck.

lookbook.

I'm sure that many of my readers are quite obsessed with the popular site LookBook. I one day dream to feature my outfits on there, however it requires quite a bit of professionalism. However, I was extremely excited when I received an email from the F-List, mentioning LookBook while outlining the highlights of LG Fashion Week. Breeyn McCarney was introduced as a newcomer with her 'Hard- Boiled Wonderland' collection. All of the looks shown below are featured on her LookBook page, which can be found here. Everyone who is anyone will know that I am obsessed with Alice in Wonderland, and I was breath taken when I viewed this collection. It's as if Alice walked through the looking glass, and ended up in 2010, somehow traveling through time and space. This collection is highly influenced with traditional looks, whether it be with respect to the dresses, stockings, socks, shoes and hair. However, Breeyn has urbanized the outfits, making them quite practical to wear within our society today.

As a huge fan of knitted and crocheted material, I love this wispy princess pink off the shoulder sweater.

This whimsical dress is completed by the bib piece around the neck and the detail adorned with stars around the hem.

This piece is most practical. Whether you are traveling to school, the office, or out on a date, this dress is extremely 'ready to wear' influenced.

I can just picture Alice wearing this dress during her adventures in Wonderland.

This dress is similar to one of the ones above, however in replacement of the bib, there is a v-neck knitted detail which is as if Alice walked through the caterpillars cocoon. Lovely.

If only we were all this skinny and could wear a top with stockings...
I figure this is a mad hatter inspired outfit, with the grungy colours and tailored look. The feathered necklace is stunning, and completes the outfit indefinitely.

This is Alice. I am picturing her traditional baby blue lace dress she has worn for over a hundred and fifty years. (Alice in Wonderland was originally written in 1865). It is amazing to think that society has been fascinated by this story for over a century and a half, and still inspires projects, such as this collection.
Gorgeous. Check it out on this lovely summer day. (spring, but whatever).

easy.

This morning I was rummaging through a garbage bag of clothes that I thrifted in the summer and I came across this gorgeous but extremely ugly floor length skirt. I purchased it on the sole fact that I loved the navy colour, and the gold buttons were excitingly intricate. I never really had use for it, until I dreamt of what I could do with it while I was trying to fall asleep last night... yes... thats what I do...

Here's the pilgrim skirt... Get ready to be cut apart.

Mucho better. I cut around five inches off the bottom of the skirt, and cut arm holes along the waist. (Allowing my arms to slip through so the skirt becomes an off both shoulders top).

I jazzed it up with numerous amounts of jewelry. I am wearing a Kenneth Bell mirrored ring, egyptian style earrings, (I only say that because they remind me of Cleopatra), a gold chained belt as a necklace, and the matching necklace for the earrings.

In order for the waist to not fly away and make me seem heftier than I truly am, I belted the dress with a thrifted blue leather belt, that is adorned with gold H's. I like to pretend it is Hermes.

I wore the ensemble with leggings.

Better view of the off the shoulder aspect.

Jewels.

And for all you people who would love a song stuck in their head today, check this one out. It's catchy, and the clothing is spectacular. Keep your eye open for the insane necklace that she wears at one point. Very tribal like.

ghost world.

For my "Popular Culture" English class, I have to read the graphic novel 'Ghost World'. I'd say that today's outfit was inspired by the (tad) punk outfits in the comic. Although it seems to be in blue and white (an awkward blend of colors), I pictured Scarlet Johansson possibly wearing my outfit. But not really... I can't help adding my own ideas. Thank goodness the weather is nice today. I was feeling like crappo and the sun lightened my spirits.

Featured here is a leather jacket from Bianca Nygard.

I am wearing a black wool t-shirt dress, with knee high woolen stockings.

I'm also wearing numerous necklaces, two golden chains (one is actually a belt), and a back glass one.

I guess you could call my belt Gladiator inspired.

I'm also wearing black Steve Madden suede booties.

Closeup of jewels.

It's somewhat of a miracle that I put this together today. I've been feeling quite under the weather and I could have just stayed in my pjs! :O
DARE I? No way. Sorry, I'm not that type of girl. It may take me a while to get dressed in the morning, but I will never forgo that quality of myself.

I decided to feature these leggings, because the infamous TAVI hosted Fashion Television last night, and was amazed by the velor leggings which were part of the Fall 2010 collection (more to be featured soon).
Her outfits were ridiculous, and I'm pretty sure her blue hair is getting her noticed.
There has been hype that her blog isn't actually written by her, her insight is amazing for a 14 year old. Who will ever know... except that it steals her front row seats at most of the most popular current fashion shows.
Maybe one day we'll all get recognized for our talent in some way or another. Fingers crossed.

Give me your input, criticism and comments on her demeanor, artistic ability and love for fashion...

Sam Needs a Tan. As Do I.

Taken from Sam Laliberte's event page for her attempt at an Australian dream come true!

Thanks to sweet friends and facebook chat, I have successfully progressed to the final round of the VIP Aussie Adventure contest !!

Although the finalists are assessed on more than votes alone, I would still LOVE your help on maintaining the lead! It would be absolutely positively appreciated if you could vote for my homemade video from April 1st - 6th.

As promised, I have come up with an epic Aussie social idea. Ever hear of THE CEEPS? I will be hosting an Australian themed Sledgehammer Bingo night on Tuesday, March 30th at 9PM.

Despite being a huge favor to myself, I have a number of incentives for you to come out!

1. I have a TON of prizes to give out for Bingo winners:
- 1 prepaid $50 visa
- Fruits & Passion sponsored gift baskets (stuffed with their Australian Baobab line of course)
- Underwater cameras
- tanning passes - if you really can't join me, then at least look like you did!
- local salon certificates
- Aussie shampoo and conditioners
- 3 koala stuffed animals :)

2. If Bingo isn't a success, I have stuff for you too! Just sit back and enjoy the night at one of the 30 large tables, and you will be showered with free giveaways like: temporary tattoos (yes, we'll put them on you!), koala pins, Australian dictionaries, suckers, and more. You will have to answer a fun Aussie fact though first!

3. Need a new head shot? I have a professional photographer AND videographer to capture what is sure to be a wicked night! Smile big and I will be posting all of the pictures shortly after the event.

4. EVERYTHING IS FREE - no cover to enter and you can play as many rounds of Bingo as you'd like.

What exactly do I mean by Sledgehammer Bingo? Here's how it will work,

The moment you walk into The Ceeps on Tuesday, you will feel like you entered down under. From the hanging flags and Aussie styled hosts to the seashell pasta used to keep track of your Bingo card.
The hilarious hosts of the night, Colin and Matty, will call out the Bingo numbers one by one. If you think you have a winner call Bingo and get ready for some fun!
If you're truly a Bingo winner, you will be invited on stage to select 1 of the remaining 12 Aussie pictures - ranging from Kangaroos and boomerangs to Nicole Kidman and Dingos. Your selection will determine which fruit you get to smash.
Australia is home of some of the freshest fruits - from Pineapples to Bananas - so put on your safety goggles and lab coat, grab your sledgehammer and smash away !
If that doesn't sound tempting enough, you could have also just won a $50 visa!

Ohh one more thing, WANNA COME TOO ??
Tourism Australia offers a Working Holiday visa.. yes, for students just like us ! I checked it out, and you should too!

the weekend has unfortunately come to an end.

Wow. So I have been extremely busy lately, so sorry for the absence of posts. You realize how much people actually look at my blog when they ask if I am doing okay because I have not posted in a while. Thanks for the fan loyalty :) .
Although I didn't post over the weekend, I managed to snapshot my outfits that I sported while studying and living life over the past couple of days. Spring is teasing us, showing up, and then disappearing, but I managed to enjoy the most of it. I even laid out in the sun to read a textbook once! YES. SEMI SUN TAN!
This is what I wore yesterday (Saturday)..

Grey jeans, with an oversize white sparkle striped blouse and tribal jewelry.

With moccasins. Of course

When I was in about (grade nine? eight?) I made a line of safety pin beaded bracelets. I dug them up out of the bottomless pit of my room of clothes and wore them. Featured here are two green and beige bracelets. If anyone wants to possibly purchase one, I still have many colors left! (In different sizes and lengths).

Beaded and knitted necklace.

TODAY.

Featured here is the outfit I crafted up today, however I should have realized that it was raining and pretty cold out before I put it together. Oh well. Who wants to step outside on a cold rainy london day anyway? NOT I. If the heat is cranked in my apartment, I will dress according to the dial.

I was told to post more video blogs by two lovely ladies last night, because they thought the last one was pretty neat, and I should explore more into it. So, I decided to show the process of how I came to this outfit. Hopefully it lives up to their standards. If not, critique me and send me those sweet songs you were talking about! xo.
Click play, and watch me come to this summer of an outfit.
I'm off to the library now. My other home. woot.

vlog. test. bear with me.

Changing things up to keep it interesting, CLICK PLAY IF YOU DARE

So, I felt creative today and decided to do a VLOG. yes. a video blog. ahh. It's my first attempt, so criticize with love please. Lots and lots of love. Since my outfit was made of multiple parts, I decided to show how I put it together. It's simple, but I feel like good enough for my first attempt at video-ing myself. If anyone has some sweet tunes they'd like to share for a possible future one, give me a shout out. Plus, I just like listening to music, so DO IT NO MATTER WHAT :) pretty please with a cherry on top?
Featured: A black tank, which I decided to spice up. I had this funky silver sparkle belly top, that I'm guessing was from the 80's (hence the belly top) and put it on top of the black tank. I then belted it, to keep the outfit together, and then added my studded Forever 21 leather vest. I'm wearing washed out grey jeans and white booties. love.
Here's another sweet Gag's song that I love. (beside's Chillin, which was featured in the vid today)

cherry bomb and Dakota Fanning's nail polish.

Dakota Fanning, I am in love with your 15 year old self. I wish, at that point in my life I was as fashionable, and as cute as you are!
I was looking for some light tv watching before I hit my head against my pillow, and I came across her adorable face, and George Lopez's... possibly not so much.
Anyway, Dakota promo-ed her new video, where she is casted along with Kristen Steward in "The Runaways".
Dakota quotes that the music played by the band is actually 'really cool and she wishes more people her age would listen to it'.
Then she went into a cute story about how her mom made her sign a contract on how she will NEVER get a tattoo (this was at the age of 11!). I guess being a celeb makes parents uber protective.
A special appearance was made by Kat Von D, and Dakota got a surpise 'tattoo' related gift. (YAY PERMANENT MARKERSSSS)

watch this trailer (for sick clothes, sassy teen girls and an explanation for Dk Fan's fake tat) Cherie Bomb... keep that in mind.
-----

One things forsure, I'm going to see this just for the clothes... Once I have more time to actually reflect on everything that is happening in this trailer, I will most definitely post about it.
Fun fact of the day: Dakota's character that she plays (Cherie Currie), was actually the same age as Dakota. FIFTEEN. Makes me wonder what I'm doing with my life. Not actually though, but to be introduced to all those vices when you just enter teen hood? For me, that concept is quite insane, but if it never happened, then our world would be sans 'the runaways'. sad sad world.
Go listen to their tunes! They're really good!

SO TO RELATE THIS TO SOMETHING BESIDES SEX DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL (as definitely seen in the trailer),
I noticed Dakota's cute nail polish while she was on Lopez Tonight. It was a cute but sexy shade of yellow.
Which reminded me that OPI has recently launched their new line of colors for the summer, which was inspired by the one and only HONG KONG.

  • Bling Dynasty: A char-"ming" gold that shimmers and glimmers
  • Red My Fortune Cookie: And this rich red is in my future
  • Hot & Spicy: A sizzling coral that’s a kung pao wow!
  • Dim Sum Plum: A berry delectable delicacy
  • Jade is the New Black: The vibrant green is the new fashion vibe
  • Suzi Says Feng Shui: A serene cobalt blue to balance your yin yang
  • A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find: But you've found it- in this zesty red-orange!
  • Lucky Lucky Lavender: Be pretty and prosperous in this luscious light purple
  • Meet Me on the Star Ferry: A Kowloon-lit, moonlit violet
  • Panda-monium Pink: Lend a panda a hand-a in this uproarious light pink
  • Pearl of Wisdom: Smart girls choose this lustrous pearl shade
  • Chop-sticking to My Story: I mean it- "pick up" this warm caramel shade
-From Beauty Anonymous

As for my outfit as today goes, I played it casual, (due to the cold weather), but did a really neat braid featured as a head band (thing).

Black tank, jeans, peacoat and a thrifted brown belt.

re: gags telephone. spotted.

Heyooo.
In a previous post (three ago to be exact), I mentioned a friend who was also inspired by gagalicious' chains.
REFRESH:

I need to get a mother of a chain like Becky's. woowwoo.

Chain around the leg, an insanely hot idea.

Knee high black boots,

Grey tunic dress.

C'est fantastique makeup.

Hair is somewhat inspired by Riri's. Bold move to shave her head. I definitely would not be able to make it look sexy like her..
I spy sequins.

fashion marketing internship.

For all of you who read about my fashionably influenced lifestyle... I recently was accepted as a marketing intern for the summer at a clothing house in Toronto called "House of Spy"/ "Maison".
Here are the juicy deets:
(taken from www.maisonclothing.com)

Maison’s Story

A lab couldn’t contain the creative prowess of former biology student, Wendy Wong. Busting loose of her scientific constraints, Wong burst onto the fashion scene in 2000 with her clothing line, House of Spy.

While studying Biology at the University of Toronto, she took a part time job as a receptionist at the International Academy of Design and Technology. Discovering one of the perks of the job was free courses, Wong wasted no time getting stuck into pattern drafting and clothing construction courses. By her second year, in the war between science and fashion, fashion was definitely winning. She finished up her degree and got straight to work making clothing samples.

Her first collection was only eight pieces, all made out of nylon, which, after much cold calling, she managed to get in a dozen stores in Ontario, Canada. Interest and sales took off from there. Trading in her test tubes for fashion design was a bold move which paid off. House of Spy was being sold in many super stylish boutiques throughout Canada and the US and the list of countries yearning for some House of Spy style kept growing.

Debuting Fall/Winter 2010, House of Spy made the switch to Maison, reflecting a more sophisticated direction for the collection. The edgy feminine shapes that have garnered this brand a loyal following among hip young women everywhere, will now be indispensable in taking those women from day to night.
