Lady Gaga has done it again. She has evolved, morphed, and created a wonderful creature that will be loved unconditionally by her loyal little monsters. Applause went viral today, and Lady Gaga herself encourages your to order her single and pre-order her album ARTPOP. What do I love about it? For starters, SHE IS BACK. I have always been obsessed with Lady Gaga's amazingly jaw dropping, oh no she didn't style. And she is just as stunning as ever in her album cover, with her porcelain face dripping in watercolor. How sexy. She has taken on a new look, transformed her style into the next chapter of her ever changing life, and I am proud to say that I love it. Simpler and cleaner lines. Definitely a good look. As soon as I heard the beginning of this song, I knew it would be one I will be playing for a long time. Definitely a classic Gaga song in the making.

The Edge of Glory Music Video Exclusive- Lady Gaga
I always find Lady Gaga's music videos inspiring, energetic and some time controversial. However, this one seems to be uber laid back and oddly refreshing. I'm not so crazy about the repetitive lyrics, however it seems fitting since her last two singles were extremely intensive and possibly somewhat bizarre. The Edge of Glory is a super relaxing and refreshing break. Although, Gaga's outfits still seem to amaze me, being bizarre and over the top. Watching her strut her stuff down an residential street in garters and a leather bondage suit made me think of Frankenfurter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Overall, I think I like this one too.

Lady Gaga Born This Way
I have no words... just amazement.
too sexual for your liking? I'm really not too sure, however I absolutely love the moment to the sci-fi influences with music videos these days.
I'm happy to say that the seven minutes it too to watch this short film did not go wasted in space. (no pun intended haha)
love.

Britney Spears- Hold it Against Me
I have fallen in love with this video. Although Britney has made some mistakes in the past, this video is far from a catastrophe. LOVE. Kind of reminds me of an Alexander McQueen show for Spring Summer 1999, mixed with Rocky Horror and throw in some fairy dust from Kesha.

your love is my drug.
your love...is my drug.
Revolutionizing the words 'pop music', Ke$ha has defined a certain type of style to flaunt when singing about guys, partying and drinking. She's redefined the recipe for teen bop music, throwing in a crap load of glitter, feathers, leather and cowboy boots. Not to mention nose rings. Her girly songs have turned out to be not so girly, especially when she mentions being a 'love sick crack head'.
I'm not criticizing Ke$ha, I absolutely love her. Yes, I admit it. I've sung along to this song many times in the car when I'm bored driving on the highway. It's catchy, and the words stick in my head, possibly like the boy she's singing about.
'I just can't get you, off my mind'.
ugh. I'm quoting the song from memory. ON TO MY BLOG.
That's how bad it is. I am in love.
Not just with her songs, but her style too.
Who else in their right mind would pair random pieces of jewelry together like she does, and still look absolutely amazing? (In a boho I don't give a *%$& way...)
She has attitude, and it shows with her clothes.
I'm in lust...
However, this video is quite ridiculous, taking place in the desert, complete with elephants, muskrats?, and tribal dancing. Not to mention a guy that slightly resembles Jesus...

what?

Ke$ha is also extremely talented in training elephants.
This scene was filmed impromtu whilst at the African Lion Safari.
She was advised not to leave the car, but she insisted.
Thank goodness she did, or else we wouldn't have the pleasure of watching her ride an elephant in yet another tribal inspired outfit....

Ke$ha also decided to show of her native dancing skills.
Complete with warrior paint.

Call me crazy, but is this glow in the dark neon tribal dancing?
Let's throw in a couple of Mayans and we'll have a prelude to the apocalypse of 2012.
Who knew tribal warriors were educated with microphone technology...

Dirt under fingernails... shudder...

Taken from 'Interview Magazine':
When asked about flaunting her eccentricity, K$ responds, “None of it’s fabricated. Like, I have a belief that if I wear my placenta in a necklace, there’s a possibility of me gaining second sight—like being psychic. I would be wearing it whether or not I was in the public eye. I’m just honest about the things I believe in. For instance, I went yesterday to a past-life regressionist, and he told me that in my past life I was assassinated. I’m pretty sure that I was JFK in my past life.”
I'm not sure if she was being serious or not... but either way, she's got one strong opinion... on life, I guess you could sum up. Although I may be in love with SOME of her style choices, I'm not that bold, and would NEVER EVER mention possibly wearing a placenta around my neck.
ugh, gross.
However, I was wearing leather, and sparkles, which I do consider essential "Ke$ha" items. So, the vid above HAD TO BE featured. (yes, I know this song came out a couple weeks ago, but I am still obsessed).

Featured is a grey t-shirt adorned with silver sequins, paired with skinny dark blue jeans and a leather jacket. I threw a silver hobo bag (purse) into the mix.

For the record, I love sparkles, elephants, leather, feathers, tribal paint (not on MY body), and I guess you could throw in men that resemble Jesus into the mix. Above and beyond all those things, Ke$ha stands out, more dominant than the rest. Although she can be a bit crazy, and possibly more, she has a wicked sense of (her own) style.

easy.
This morning I was rummaging through a garbage bag of clothes that I thrifted in the summer and I came across this gorgeous but extremely ugly floor length skirt. I purchased it on the sole fact that I loved the navy colour, and the gold buttons were excitingly intricate. I never really had use for it, until I dreamt of what I could do with it while I was trying to fall asleep last night... yes... thats what I do...

Here's the pilgrim skirt... Get ready to be cut apart.

Mucho better. I cut around five inches off the bottom of the skirt, and cut arm holes along the waist. (Allowing my arms to slip through so the skirt becomes an off both shoulders top).

I jazzed it up with numerous amounts of jewelry. I am wearing a Kenneth Bell mirrored ring, egyptian style earrings, (I only say that because they remind me of Cleopatra), a gold chained belt as a necklace, and the matching necklace for the earrings.

In order for the waist to not fly away and make me seem heftier than I truly am, I belted the dress with a thrifted blue leather belt, that is adorned with gold H's. I like to pretend it is Hermes.

Jewels.
And for all you people who would love a song stuck in their head today, check this one out. It's catchy, and the clothing is spectacular. Keep your eye open for the insane necklace that she wears at one point. Very tribal like.

we all live in a yellow submarine.
I am personally thinking of Strawberry Fields Forever during this gorgeous summer time weather. I don't know about you, but the sunshine has inspired me to throw on a record and listen to those psychedelic tunes that so many people loved and raved about. Let's face it. The Beatles will always be with us, no matter how young or old we are...

So my good friend Shraddha joined me at my house yesterday to pick out a summer time outfit.
In light of these sunny days, I was told by her to wear colour. I literally tore my closet apart and found three pieces of clothing that would not be considered shades (to recap your gradeschool memory that would be black, white and grey).
To write minutes on our dressup date:
Jen: I want to go home and change out of my pjs. I look like a boy. I just wrote an exam, and I feel gross. I need a little cheering up.
Shraddha: Let's go home and pick out your outfit.
(Walk home and gossip)
Shraddha: You need colour. It's the nicest day out this week. You need to look 'summery'
Jen: Rips out everything in her closet
Jen: I don't have any darn colour. And If I do, it washed me out. ughhh
. Maybe I'll just wear black.
Shraddha: Honey. You always wear black. Today thats a no-no.
Jen: I want to wear my cowboy boots. And that's all I know.
Shraddha: Okay. Find clothes to go with them at least!
Jen: Basically tries on everything in her closet, and throws it on the floor. At this point in time, Shraddha is bored bonkers and leaves to go to class. Jen is NOT a good friend at this point in time... She cannot make up her mind whatsoever, except that she wants to wear cowboy boots.
Now that you've read this boring story, here's what she picked. And instantly thought of the Beatles? Why? I'm not too sure. I'm going to ask her that later tonight after she's had some time to think about it.

Shades. They were a must on a day like today. I have missed wearing them!
Speaking about psychedelic things... I came across a neat techno/rave/house website. Came across this.

a collection of stopwatches.
Okay so,as everyone may know, I am in love with Alice in Wonderland. So I wanted to feature this creative music vid, but my post 13 year old ears CANNOT stand Avril singing anymore. I'm truly sorry. In order to fully enjoy this video, I suggest you click mute? I did anyway. whoops.
On to bigger, better and more attractive things, ADAM. I am in love. gosh darnit. This song is somewhat annoyingly catchy, and personally, I could listen to Adam sing all day. And quite possibly drool over him too. (such a shame)...
Anyway. For some reason today I felt like wearing ALL black. I dont think I have done that in a while, but Avril and Adam (double A team) has pushed me back to my somewhat (gothic?? punk? pretty boy and girl?) roots. Whatever it was, I was thinking of Ke$ha and her blah blah blah video. I decided to be a tad creative and become inspired by this punk fashonista trio (yes, Adam is included in that).

I had a bit of time before class, so I decided to design some earrings. (Sadly,) this is my idea of fun. Featured above are old BORING earrings that I probably bought when I was in grade seven, when these kind of earrings were really really cool and I could not do without them. ya, probably wore them a max of three times. sorry mom.

POW. I decorated them with white feathers. They look oh so gorg now.

Next mission. Yes, these are those super popular Mary Kate and Ashley inspired earrings that I NEEDED to have that featured J's on them because I wanted to be just like the twins. Oh boy, they went out of style fast.

Wow. this photo took me a while to find. You know you have no life when you remebered WHAT magazine you saw this photoshoot in and WHAT outfit Ashley was wearing and WHAT earrings she was wearing. Thank god google decodes that information. Umm I am deeming myself a person with a photgraphic memory. Yes, this picture was taken from YM Magainzine in... drumroll please? September 2003. Seven years ago. yikes.
Anyway, back to business. I decided to take my seven year old earrings (I guess I can date them now?) and transform them. Sorry Ash. Sorry MK. Yours looked better on you anyway.

Not that you can really notice the original... but I just needed a base of an earring and a long chain. My J chain earrings were a perfect muse.

Decided to wear one. Like Ke$ha? Love.

I could belong in an Adam Lambert vid. Yes. So, featured here is a thrifted blouse, that I removed the collared neck and makeshifted into an off the shoulder (both) top. I paired it with a jeweled and studded leather vest from Forever 21. I'm wearing black jeans, and a chain belt. I am wearing a large silver ring from Kenneth Bell, and a silver chain necklace worn as a bracelet, accompanied by a silver circular cuff.

My shooz. Thrifted black boat shoes.

jewels.

So Selena has definitely grown up since being on the disney channel... (yes, my brothers do still watch that channel, and yes, I happen to join in on their viewings of the Suite Life on Deck). We're cool like that. Anyway. As I said, she's grown up. And this song is a tad catchy. It may be a bit sad that I saw this movie this morning and was feeling quite possibly a tad too giddy, that I (somewhat) dressed up similarly to one of her outfits. Sorry, the clip isn't complete, so it will cut off eventually, but it was the only one I could find on youtube that wasn't requested that the embedded code be taken off for public use. ughh. Anyway. See that amazing golden (pearl? or just jeweled?) necklace? Ya, I don't have anything similar. So just picture that with my outfit. I have somewhat the same shooz and the dress... I decided to pair mine with a Costa Blanca belt. The dress is coincidentally from there too. LURVE? YES.

blah blah
I just want to say that I am in LOVE with Ke$ha and her outfits. I have watched this video maybe five times in a row (just now) and I still have to watch it probably ten more to take in everything that she is wearing. I love the sparkles, the feathers, the leather, the studs, the hair, the makeup... EVERYTHING. I cannot wait until it is summer so I can wear shorts, tanks and dresses just like her... warm weather please come soon? until then.... blahhhhhh

tribal.
Tegan and Sara, Alligator.Inspiration for today's experimental outfit?
I found a poncho that my Oma (yes, my grandmother is German.) crocheted for me a while back when ponchos were all the rage. When I saw the music video "Alligator" by Tegan and Sara, I was ultimately reminded of this lovely piece of clothing. I haven't worn it in ages by the way, so I decided to spice it up with a tribal (summery?) look, which is in for summer. See Dries Van Noten designs below for the Spring 2010 collection... Besides the humongous head scarves being oh so cozy looking, the song is extremely catchy and the dance moves are upbeat, making me feel all happy and warm inside :D.
Sorry for the multiple photo shots in advance...

To look like Tegan and Sara, I put the poncho around my neck and pulled it over my head, to represent a scarf. I braided a stand in my hair and paired it with a black headband for a tribal infused hippie look.

Featured here is the selection of jewelry for today, which consists of three large wooden bangles, accompanied by a wooden beaded necklace trandsformed into a bracelet.

I decided to deck myself out, and wear two wooden beaded necklaces, one of them featuring claw like shapes. uber neato.

The poncho as a shirt, above and below. Fastened with a thrifted brown belt to makeshift the knitted coverup into a hippie style shirt.
Another shot. As I said before, sorry for the multiple shots :P Notice the detail of the poncho, with its detailed fringe :)
And to the runway!
Dries Van Noten's Spring 2010 Collection.
Here are just some snipits from the ready to wear collection, which featured lovely tribal prints, flowy skirts, large sunglasses and decorative jewelry. The gorgeous pastel colours enfuse the clothing with the feeling of spring, bringing sunshine wherever worn, even in the darkest of places. Click here to see the rest of the collection.
